Running a business in the fitness and wellbeing space is more than workouts, meal plans, or meditation classes… a business is a complex machine and as a business owner, you have many hats to wear. With all this to think about, with the weight of it all, your mindset matters immensely.
In this blog, I will share with you one of the most powerful mindset tools you can develop that will help you manage everything else being thrown at you and get more clients – we call it REFRAMING!
What does reframing mean?
Reframing is all about changing the way you interpret a situation. It doesn’t mean ignoring problems or putting on a fake smile when things are tough. Instead, it means choosing to see a challenge through a different, more empowering lens.
This can change everything – from how you show up in your business to the results you get.
Examples of reframing
A potential client ghosts you after what felt like a great consultation call.
The default reaction might be, “I must have said something wrong,” or “I’m not good at sales.”
The result is imposter syndrome and a spiral of self-doubt which holds you back from giving your best on your next consultation and potentially loses you future clients.
Time for a reframe
What if you chose to see it as…
“That person wasn’t ready, and that’s okay. My time is better spent focusing on the clients who are ready to commit”
Or even…
“That was great practice, and I’m learning how to get even better at these conversations.”
The result is you will focus on your next right step. Now you’ve reframed a negative situation so you can move forward and continue with lead generation activities without holding yourself back.
Reframing this way is not to be underestimated; it has a totally different impact on your energy, confidence, and actions going forward.
Why reframing is so important for business owners:
When you’re self-employed, your mindset is your engine. Every time you interpret a setback as a failure, you chip away at your confidence.
When you reframe that setback as feedback, or even fuel, you keep moving forward.
Reframing helps you:
- Bounce back from knock-backs quicker
- Stay in your creative, problem-solving brain (not your primitive brain)
- Show up with more clarity and confidence and definitely calmer
- Reduce procrastination and self-sabotage
- Keeps your nervous system regulated which is essential for consistent action and long-term business growth.

- Catch the Thought
You can’t reframe what you don’t notice. Start by becoming aware of your inner dialogue. Notice when you’re slipping into thoughts like:
“I’m not cut out for this.”
“Other people are doing better than me.”
“I’ve tried before and it didn’t work.”
Pause and acknowledge the thought WITHOUT judgement. You’re human, and this is just your brain trying to protect you.
- Question the Story
Ask yourself: Is this 100% true? Is there another way to look at this?
Often we’re reacting to a story, not a fact. Challenging that narrative creates space for a new one. For example:
Old Story: “I’m rubbish at social media.”
Reframe: “I’m still learning how to use social media in a way that works for me.”
Old Story: “Nobody wants what I offer.”
Reframe: “I haven’t found the right way to communicate the value of what I offer yet.”
Just like going to the gym or meditating, reframing is a practice you have to choose intentionally everyday. The more you do it, the easier it gets. Eventually, your brain becomes trained to look for the lesson, the growth, and the next step, rather than spiralling into stress and self-doubt.
Your mindset isn’t just something nice to work on when you have time.
How you think affects how you show up, how you lead, and how much success you create.
Reframing gives you your power back.
Don’t you think you deserve that?
