As a fitness or wellbeing business owner, you might feel like you have to do it all on your own. But when things don’t go to plan, having a supportive tribe can make all the difference. Having a group of like-minded business owners who you can turn to for support is, in my opinion, vital for business success. Left to our own devices we can get ourselves into all kinds of mental knots when things don’t go to plan. These mental knots can lead to us losing our motivation, feeling defeated and on the verge of giving up and getting a job. The feeling that you are the only one experiencing setbacks can consume you and make you feel incredibly isolated. Let’s explore why having a tribe is so important and how you can find one.
1. Shared Wisdom
Your tribe brings diverse perspectives and experiences. When you’re stuck, their insights can help you see solutions you might not have considered. For instance, a fellow business owner might share a strategy that worked for them in a similar situation, saving you time and effort.
2. Emotional Support
Setbacks can feel isolating, but knowing you have people who understand and empathise can be incredibly comforting. Your tribe provides a safe space to vent, process emotions, and reconnect with your confidence.
3. Accountability
Your tribe can help you stay on track, offering encouragement and holding you accountable to your goals. Whether it’s checking in on your progress or gently pushing you out of a slump, their support keeps you moving forward.
4. Celebrating Wins
It’s not just about support during tough times. Your tribe will celebrate your successes with you, making the journey more rewarding. Sharing wins, big or small, strengthens bonds and fosters positivity.
Building Your Tribe:
- Join Communities: Look for local or online groups for fitness and wellbeing professionals. Facebook groups, LinkedIn communities, and industry forums are great places to start. You can even come and join my free Facebook group: The Fitness & Wellbeing Business Mindset Hub https://www.facebook.com/groups/fwbusinessmindsethub
- Collaborate: Partner with others in your industry to share ideas and resources. Joint ventures, co-hosted events, or be a resident expert/guest expert.
- Invest in coaching: A coach or mentor can provide personalised guidance and support. Their experience can help you navigate challenges more effectively. They may also already have a tribe that you can join. I have The Get It Done Club and The VIP Club. Both of these offer places for fitness and wellbeing business owners to support one another.
- Attend networking events: Online or face to face, formal meetings or more relaxed meetups are excellent opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals.
A tribe isn’t just there for when things don’t go to plan; it’s there for all the ups and downs of business. When things don’t go to plan, your tribe will be there to lift you up and help you move forward. In return, you’ll find joy and purpose in supporting others, creating a community where everyone thrives. If you don’t have a tribe yet, I invite you to start your journey to finding one today. Reach out to peers, join a group, or connect with a coach. The journey of a fitness or wellbeing business owner is so much richer when shared. Together, we’re stronger.
Until next time,
Best wishes
