Your mindset around money isn’t something you can work on once and forget. As a fitness or wellbeing business owner, you’re constantly exposed to other people’s attitudes, beliefs and mindset towards money, and if you’re not careful, their lack mindset can rub off on you. Keeping your own money mindset in a state of abundance is critical if you want your business to thrive.

It’s easy to think that once you’ve done the work to develop a healthier relationship with money, that’s it – you’re done. But the truth is, your money mindset needs regular attention, just like your physical or emotional health. Neglect it, and old habits or fears can creep back in, holding you back from the success you’re working so hard to achieve.

You don’t just read a book, listen to a podcast, or attend a workshop and suddenly have an abundant mindset for life. Your environment, the people you surround yourself with, and your own experiences are constantly influencing your thoughts about money. That’s why you need to keep doing the inner work to maintain a healthy relationship with money.

Imagine if you stopped working out as soon as you hit a fitness goal. Over time, you’d lose strength, flexibility, and energy. The same goes for your money mindset. If you stop working on it, you can easily fall back into old patterns of scarcity, lack and fear.

We’re all exposed to other people’s thoughts and beliefs around money – whether it’s friends, family, clients, or even social media. Sometimes, without realising it, we take on their stories as our own. As business owners, asking people to pay us money for our services, we are exposed to other people’s money mindset more than if we were employed.

Maybe a client says, “I can’t afford that,” and suddenly you start doubting whether people will pay for your services. Or a family member complains about how hard it is to make money, and that plants a seed of doubt in your mind. Over time, these external messages can shape your own beliefs, even if they don’t align with the abundant mindset you want to cultivate.

For a business owner, a lack-based mindset can be incredibly damaging and it can “cost” you plenty. When you operate from a place of fear or scarcity, you start making decisions that undermine your business. Maybe you:

– Undercharge for your services because you’re afraid clients won’t pay.

– Avoid investing in marketing or business tools because you’re scared to spend money.

– Say yes to work that doesn’t align with your values just to “keep the money coming in.”

These actions might bring in short-term cash, but they can also lead to burnout and frustration in the long run. When you approach money from a place of abundance, however, you make decisions that support your business’s growth and your own wellbeing.

So how do you stay in an abundant mindset, especially when the world around you seems focused on lack? Here are some practical steps:

  1. Just like working out, mindset work needs to be consistent. Whether it’s through journaling, meditation, or reading, make a habit of feeding your mind with abundant, positive messages around money.
  2. The people you spend time with matter. Seek out those who share an abundant mindset and avoid those who constantly complain about money.
  3. Don’t just focus on the big goals. Take time to celebrate every bit of income, every new client, and every positive financial step, no matter how small.
  4. When financial worries creep in, remind yourself that money is an energy that flows in and out. Trust in the value you’re offering, and trust that money will continue to flow into your business when you operate from a place of abundance and take inspired action.

In Conclusion…

Your money mindset is one of the most important factors in determining the success of your business. It’s not something you can fix once and then forget about – it requires ongoing attention and work. Your money mindset influences and impacts many aspects of your business: from the toilet roll you buy for the studio toilets to the training you invest in for the business to the advertising space you pay for to get new clients to the decision to get admin help. All decisions will be influenced and impacted by your money mindset – it’s important so keep working on it.

And if you still haven’t read Jen Sincero’s “You Are A Badass At Making Money” this is your reminder to read it.

Until next time,

Best wishes
