We are told consistency is the secret sauce of success, but we all know it’s one of the hardest things to master as a busy business owner.
But I teach my clients consistency is a different way to other mindset and business coaches I’ve met and in this blog I want to give you some insights into this different approach – one that isn’t ladled with shame and unrealistic expectations. One that honours you as a whole human being.
You don’t need to overhaul your life or business overnight to do this. Instead, we start to plan to build consistency through small, intentional actions – without the pressure that consistency means CONSTANT and FOREVER!
Think of consistency like building a wall. Each small brick adds up, creating something solid and enduring over time.
Let’s look at how planning for consistency can help you grow your business, avoid burnout, and maintain a success-driven mindset.
- Why Consistency Matters More Than Perfection:
Perfectionism often holds people back from starting or sticking to a plan. But consistency beats perfection every time. It’s the daily, small steps that lead to long-term success.
- Regular actions, even if they’re not perfect, build momentum over time.
- Clients value reliability. Consistency in your marketing, communication, and services builds trust and loyalty.
- A consistent approach helps you stay on track, even when motivation dips.
- Mindset: Overcoming All-or-Nothing Thinking
An all-or-nothing mindset can sabotage your efforts before you’ve even begun. Planning for consistency means allowing wiggle room for when things may not go to plan – not perfect is ok.
- Remind yourself that progress, not perfection, is the goal.
- Celebrate small wins to keep your mindset positive and focused.
- Let go of guilt when things don’t go to plan. Adjust and keep moving forward.
- Understand that even with a brilliant consistent plan, you will still need a break or the energy shift of changing things up.
- How to Plan for Consistency:
- Start small. Choose one area of your business to focus on, such as posting on social media twice a week or sending a monthly/quarterly newsletter.
- Create routines. Block out time in your diary for recurring tasks, like answering emails, social media scheduling, writing client programmes or new classes.
- Measure your progress. A simple tick sheet to mark as you complete a consistent day, week or month can be enough to spur you on.
- Plan for rest, celebration and a break.
By planning for consistency, you’ll create habits that support long-term growth. You don’t have to do everything perfectly and all at once. The secret to success when it comes to consistency is to do it on your terms in a way that works for you. This is, after all, YOUR business.
How will you CHOOSE to be consistent in your business? The decision is yours!
Until next time,
Best wishes
